Let’s take action together!
Join Families for Climate members in targeted advocacy! Sign up here to indicate your interest, and we’ll follow up with you. Also, hearing from youth and children can be a very effective way to make an emotional impact on leaders. If there is a child in your life who might feel brave enough to speak out about climate, we can help!
Read a powerful letter from a parent climate activist: My View: On climate disasters, we must act on behalf of children, Feb 2022, Portland Tribune.
You can contact your legislators about climate anytime, not just during session:
Call your legislators by phone
Send a personal email to your legislators. Here’s a helpful guide to writing an effective letter to your policy maker
Mail a paper letter to your legislators. If applicable, include a drawing from your kid(s)!
Request a meeting (Zoom or phone) with your legislator. (We recommend doing this if you feel particularly invested, well versed, and/or have an important perspective to share on an issue, or you can partner with a subject-matter expert and just act as the convener.)
Participate in public engagement events:
Attend a virtual ‘town hall’ event with your elected officials and ask them to be climate leaders. (If they already are, be sure to thank them!) It’s important that legislators are always hearing their constituents demand urgent climate action.
Check out Town Hall Project to find out when your legislators are holding their next events.
