Introducing ElectrifyPDX!

A step-by-step guide to direct climate action for anyone with an electric bill.

Families for Climate is pleased to serve as fiscal sponsor for a new program that celebrates the invisible work of shifting Portland’s homes toward an all-renewable electric future! Whether it takes six months or six years to achieve your goal, everybody needs a plan, so that when appliances die, you’ve already done your homework on a clean, efficient, climate-friendly upgrade.

Don’t own your home? No problem. See resources for renters on page 3 of this guide from Rewiring America and scroll to the bottom of FFC’s electric resource page.

People who enroll in ElectrifyPDX can choose a sign that fits their situation. There’s an “in-process" sign with colorful badges to apply as you earn them, or a permanent “certified renewable electric home” sign.

On a recent episode of the podcast A Matter of Degrees, the hosts talked about home electrification as one of the key answers to the ubiquitous question, “What can I do?”

So whether you rent or own your home, this is a good time to:

  1. Plug in with others! Enroll with ElectrifyPDX, team up with a friend, join the ElectrifyPDX Facebook Group.

  2. Make a plan. Identify your options & rebates with resources like Portland-based ElectrifyNow.

  3. Start swapping out gas appliances for electric ones in your home, and reduce your power bill with community solar.

  4. Spread the word among friends and neighbors by placing a sign in your window or front yard.

Outside of Portland? Ask neighbors if there’s already an electrify group in your area or start one!
